Water and Wastewater Asset Management
The Challenge: Outdated Maintenance Processes

The Water Utility had been operating on their CMMS for several years but never reached the desired level of Asset Management. These challenges included:

  • CM v. PM - Work was skewed to Corrective vs Preventative Maintenance
  • User Adoption - Ineffective training and OCM
  • Reporting - Missing dashboards, and KPI’s (i.e. OEE, WT, MTBF)
  • Cost Tracking - Inability to roll up costs to the asset level
  • MRO parts - Ineffective tracking and cumbersome requisition processes
  • Data Quality - Lack of standards for data entry and SOP’s
  • GIS - Missing opportunities to leverage the GIS system

  • Limited Reporting - Management was missing the ability to quickly access current data
  • Business Processes - Many processes were outdated and did not match current best practices

The Challenge: Needing to Reengineer Their Business Processes, Extend Asset Lifecycles, And Be Able To Track Costs Down To The Asset Leve

While the Water Utility has completed multiple, major capital improvement projects, they were still missing visibility into the lifecycle and costs of their assets and to improve how they work to extend those lifecycles. After years of using a second tier CMMS and a Homegrown solution, they want to implement a more robust solution that can support an advanced Asset Management System and Reliability Centered Maintenance. As part of this effort, business processes were long overdue to be assessed for improvement opportunities and the Water Authority wanted outside expertise for Industry Best Practices. The Water Authority also wanted expertise in implementing Maximo as the new CMMS.
